Kathure Githinji-NyamuManaging Director – NCBA Investment Bank Limited
Kathure Nyamu is an investment banker with over 22 years’ professional experience gained at CBA Capital Ltd, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Deloitte. She has extensive experience in corporate finance advisory. Prior to her appointment as the Managing Director at NCBA Investment Bank, she was the Chief Executive Officer at CBA Capital Limited, a wholly-owned investment banking subsidiary of the former Commercial Bank of Africa Limited (“CBA”), now NCBA Bank Kenya PLC. Before joining the CBA Group, Kathure held notable positions, as a Corporate Finance Executive at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2004 to 2006, Senior Corporate Finance Consultant at Deloitte Management Consultants between 2001 and 2003, and as an Auditor at Deloitte between 1997 and 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Nairobi and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program, an executive management course, a joint program between Strathmore Business School (SBS), Lagos Business School (LBS) and IESE Business School, Barcelona, Spain. Kathure is also a Certified Investment and Financial Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya.
Catherine KaritaExecutive Director (Brokerage)
Catherine Karita has 10 years’ experience in capital markets. Her banking career started off at Bank of America, in the US where she worked for 4 years in Relationship Management and various Sales positions. Prior to joining NIC Group Ltd, now NCBA Group, Catherine worked at CfC Stanbic Financial Services Limited as the Head of Corporate and Institutional Sales, where she established the Local and Foreign Institutional business. She joined NIC Group Ltd as General Manager of NIC Securities Ltd, a wholly-owned investment banking subsidiary of the former NIC Group Ltd. She was later appointed to Executive Director at NIC Securities Ltd in 2015. She currently serves as the Executive Director at NCBA Investment Bank, Brokerage division. She holds an MBA Finance option from University of Baltimore, BSc. Degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a Law Degree from the University of Nairobi.
Eva NjugunaHead of Trading
Eva Njuguna is Head of Trading at NCBA Investment Bank. She has 14 years’ experience in investment banking having worked as Head of Brokerage at CBA Capital for 5 years and 9 years as General Manager, Trading at Sterling Capital Ltd. She has extensive experience in Capital Markets and business development in African markets. Eva holds a BSc. Mathematical Statistics from the University of Nairobi and is a member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts, (ICIFA). She has also passed Level III of Global Securities offered by Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
Samuel GichohiHead of Business Development
Samuel Gichohi has 11 years’ experience in Investment Banking. Samuel has formerly served as the Senior research analyst at NIC Securities Ltd, Head of research at Standard Investment Bank and as research analyst at Drummond Investment Bank. He has been involved in various high profile privatization and Capital Issues during his 5 years in the industry and has built extensive experience in the equities market research and analysis function. Samuel holds an MSc. in Finance from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, UK and an advanced Diploma in Information Technology from the Institute of Finance Management in Tanzania.
Paul GicheruExecutive Director & Chief Investment Officer
Paul Gicheru is the Chief Investment Officer at NCBA Investment Bank responsible for the wealth management business. He has over 16 years of broad range experience covering investment management, corporate finance, auditing and financial management. Prior to joining NCBA Investment Bank, Paul rose from the role of Senior Investment Manager to Chief Investment Officer at CBA Capital’s wealth management division, prior to which he was a Senior Manager at the Corporate Finance department. Paul has also worked with PKF Consulting as a manager in the Corporate Finance department and has served in various roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Close Brothers Cayman Limited and KPMG. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K, a Practicing Member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analyst of Kenya (“ICIFA”). He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi, has passed level II examinations of the CFA Program offered by the CFA Institute and Level III of the CISI program.
Steven Maleche is a Senior Investment Manager at NCBA Investment Bank. He has over 12 years’ experience in the asset management industry as an investment analyst and Portfolio manager covering Unit trusts, Pan African equity funds, pension funds and other segregated mandates. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree and is a member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (ICIFA) and Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya (ICPAK).
Victor has over 10 years working experience in the financial services industry with a bias to Client Service Management. His skills in Client Service Management have been gained through his involvement in client management and Business Development. He holds a Bachelor of Education Economics and Business Studies and an MBA-Strategic Management.
Maurice OpiyoExecutive Director (Advisory)
Maurice has over 10 years investment banking experience. Maurice joined NIC Capital Ltd, now NCBA Investment Bank Ltd, in 2009 as a Senior Associate from Old Mutual where he was a Senior Investment Analyst. Maurice was the Managing Director of NIC Capital prior to his appointment as the Executive Director of Advisory at NCBA Investment Bank Ltd. Maurice holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Finance Option) and is a CFA level 3 Candidate. Maurice is a full practising member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts.
Eldad WairegiAssociate Director
Eldad Wairegi has over 10 years investment banking experience having advised several large corporates and government entities on debt and equity capital raises as well as mergers and acquisitions. Notable clients include the National Treasury of the Republic of Kenya, Platinum Credit, NIC Bank, Centum Investments, Family Bank, Kenya Women Microfinance Bank, Britam, HF Group (formerly Housing Finance Company of Kenya Limited), Tusker Mattresses Limited (Tuskys) among others. Prior to joining NIC Capital Ltd, now NCBA Investment Bank Ltd, Eldad was a research analyst with AIG Investments (now Sanlam Investments) and also worked with the fund management team at British American Asset Managers and the Sales and Trading Department at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Eldad graduated from the Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and is a full practising member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts.
Gerald KimothoAssociate Director
Gerald Kimotho has over 10 years’ investment banking experience in East Africa. Gerald has worked on debt and equity financing transactions for large corporates in the East African Region including African Export-Import Bank, Commercial Bank of Africa, Kenya Power, Bank of Kigali, East African Portland Cement, REA Trading, TransCentury, I&M Bank, Shelter Afrique, Family Bank, Kenya Pooled Water Fund, FSD Africa among others. Prior to joining CBA Group, Gerald worked with African Alliance Kenya Investment Bank and Dyer & Blair Investment Bank as Senior Corporate Advisor. Gerald graduated from the University of Nairobi with Bachelor of Commence (Finance Option) and is a Certified Public Accountant from Strathmore University. Gerald is a full practising member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts.
Judy WaithakaAssociate Director
Judy Waithaka has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry and 10 years in corporate finance. Locally, Judy has extensive transaction advisory experience in capital markets (equity placing & debt origination) and corporate finance (including public and private M&A). Other transactions under her portfolio include not only managing start-ups for small and medium enterprises but also blue-chip companies as well. Regionally, she has participated in various transactions in the areas of deal structuring, project management, business and financial analysis, in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, and Swaziland. Prior to her appointment as Associate Director at NCBA Investment Bank Ltd, Judy was a Senior Manager, Corporate Finance at CBA Capital Limited. She also worked as a corporate finance advisor at African Alliance Kenya Investment Bank Limited and before that, corporate finance analyst at Loita Capital Partners Kenya Limited. Judy holds a BSc, International Business Administration, from the United States International University, (USIU). Judy is a member of the Institute of Certified Investment & Financial Analysts, (ICIFA) as well as the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
