Muathi Kilonzo

Managing Director – NCBA Investment Bank Limited

Muathi brings a wealth of experience in the financial services industry, having held various senior leadership roles in investment banking. Muathi joins us from EFG Hermes where he served as Managing Director, Head of Brokerage and Frontier Equity Sales. He played a key role in building the EFG Hermes frontier markets business, expanding operations across several countries, including Kenya, Pakistan, Vietnam and Nigeria. His expertise spans across all aspects of brokerage operations and investment banking. Muathi has a strong track record in driving market share growth, especially in Kenya, where he led the business to become the market leader. He has played a key role in launching retail trading platforms and executing capital-raising initiatives.

Eva Njuguna

Head of Trading

Eva Njuguna is Head of Trading at NCBA Investment Bank. She has 14 years’ experience in investment banking having worked as Head of Brokerage at CBA Capital for 5 years and 9 years as General Manager, Trading at Sterling Capital Ltd. She has extensive experience in Capital Markets and business development in African markets. Eva holds a BSc. Mathematical Statistics from the University of Nairobi and is a member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts, (ICIFA). She has also passed Level III of Global Securities offered by Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

Samuel Gichohi

Head of Business Development

Samuel Gichohi has 11 years’ experience in Investment Banking. Samuel has formerly served as the Senior research analyst at NIC Securities Ltd, Head of research at Standard Investment Bank and as research analyst at Drummond Investment Bank. He has been involved in various high profile privatization and Capital Issues during his 5 years in the industry and has built extensive experience in the equities market research and analysis function. Samuel holds an MSc. in Finance from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, UK and an advanced Diploma in Information Technology from the Institute of Finance Management in Tanzania.

Paul Gicheru

Executive Director & Chief Investment Officer

Paul Gicheru is the Chief Investment Officer at NCBA Investment Bank responsible for the wealth management business. He has over 16 years of broad range experience covering investment management, corporate finance, auditing and financial management. Prior to joining NCBA Investment Bank, Paul rose from the role of Senior Investment Manager to Chief Investment Officer at CBA Capital’s wealth management division, prior to which he was a Senior Manager at the Corporate Finance department. Paul has also worked with PKF Consulting as a manager in the Corporate Finance department and has served in various roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Close Brothers Cayman Limited and KPMG. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K, a Practicing Member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analyst of Kenya (“ICIFA”). He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi, has passed level II examinations of the CFA Program offered by the CFA Institute and Level III of the CISI program.

Victor Kithinji

Victor has over 10 years working experience in the financial services industry with a bias to Client Service Management. His skills in Client Service Management have been gained through his involvement in client management and Business Development. He holds a Bachelor of Education Economics and Business Studies and an MBA-Strategic Management.

Eldad Wairegi

Associate Director

Eldad Wairegi has over 10 years investment banking experience having advised several large corporates and government entities on debt and equity capital raises as well as mergers and acquisitions. Notable clients include the National Treasury of the Republic of Kenya, Platinum Credit, NIC Bank, Centum Investments, Family Bank, Kenya Women Microfinance Bank, Britam, HF Group (formerly Housing Finance Company of Kenya Limited), Tusker Mattresses Limited (Tuskys) among others. Prior to joining NIC Capital Ltd, now NCBA Investment Bank Ltd, Eldad was a research analyst with AIG Investments (now Sanlam Investments) and also worked with the fund management team at British American Asset Managers and the Sales and Trading Department at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Eldad graduated from the Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and is a full practising member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts.

Gerald Kimotho

Associate Director

Gerald Kimotho has over 10 years’ investment banking experience in East Africa. Gerald has worked on debt and equity financing transactions for large corporates in the East African Region including African Export-Import Bank, Commercial Bank of Africa, Kenya Power, Bank of Kigali, East African Portland Cement, REA Trading, TransCentury, I&M Bank, Shelter Afrique, Family Bank, Kenya Pooled Water Fund, FSD Africa among others. Prior to joining CBA Group, Gerald worked with African Alliance Kenya Investment Bank and Dyer & Blair Investment Bank as Senior Corporate Advisor. Gerald graduated from the University of Nairobi with Bachelor of Commence (Finance Option) and is a Certified Public Accountant from Strathmore University. Gerald is a full practising member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts.
